Entry to Australia

Visas

Please note that all travellers to Australia, other than New Zealanders, must have a valid visa before boarding their plane and cannot apply for a visa on arrival. We recommend that international delegates apply for the appropriate visa well in advance of their planned travel.

All delegates, other than New Zealanders, should read the information on "visitor visa processing and requirements" found on the website of the Australian Department of Immigration: http://www.immi.gov.au

That website gives this information about the visa most commonly suited to attending a Conference:

SHORT STAY BUSINESS VISA (456)

http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/business/business-visit-visa-options.htm

ADDITIONAL DOCUMENTATION CHECKLIST. If you are attending a conference - proof of paid conference registration must be provided. This letter must be signed by the delegate.

Each overseas participant who has paid their registration fee will receive a letter confirming their registration by email. The letter will be required by Australian Overseas Visa Offices when considering their visa application.

We do not provide letters of ‘invitation’. If the Australian Overseas Visa Office to which you are applying insists on a letter of ‘invitation’, please draw their attention to this page.
